Our Protect PDF tool applies the standard 40-bit RC4 password scheme built into the PDF format. For documents with serious confidentiality or compliance requirements, consult a qualified security professional.
File compatibility
PDFs come from an enormous range of software, and a small number of unusual or corrupted files may not process correctly in any browser-based tool, including ours. Always keep a copy of your original file before editing it.
